FOREIGN ECONOMIC ACTIVITY IN THE NEW REALITY. THE CUSTOMS REPRESENTATIVE'S POINT OF VIEW

Abstract

The customs services market and the institution of customs representatives have been undergoing a large-scale transformation in recent years: digitalization, sanctions restrictions, increased administrative barriers, and increased risks of joint and several liability. These processes directly affect both the business of participants in foreign economic activity and the practice of law enforcement in the customs sphere.

In a conversation with Yulia Shlenskaya, president of the KW Group of Companies, and the founder of the magazine, Valentina Ionicheva, the editor-in-chief, discussed key trends in the development of the customs system, changes in the role of the customs representative there, problems of inspections both before and after the release of goods, and issues of risk redistribution between business and the state.
